City Histories

Taken on film, City Histories is inquiring into female presence, past space, nature, and the embodied gaze of the usually glamorous Shanghai in a perspective of deep observation and the relational dynamics between identity, environment, and memory.

  1. Human

2. Landmark

3. Passing

Etonmars is an interdisciplinary artist whose work grows from a persistent sense of not fitting in, in the quiet friction of identity, memory, and belonging.
Working across photography, film, theater, and installation, she builds spaces where marginalized experiences can be witnessed and felt.

Rooted in documentary observation and guided by an instinct for the in-between, her practice wanders deliberately, across cultures, across media, and the self – alert always to the coexistence of freedom and unease.
