Etonmars is an interdisciplinary artist working across image-based media practices. Her work stems from a persistent sense of alienation, an intuitive feeling of belonging elsewhere, which informs her ongoing investigation into identity, trauma related history, and the relationship between the body and its environments.

Grounded in a documentary-oriented research approach, her practice privileges quiet observation and restraint, revealing subtle emotional and physical states embedded in everyday spaces. Through engaging with the in-between and the unknown, she constructs alternative spatial narratives that function as acts of quiet resistance, reclaiming mental and embodied space for marginalized communities.

She founded self gaze collective, together with theater-maker Star Yuexing Sun in 2024, as a loose artist group that help engage mass audience with themes from Self Gaze – a long term project focused on forming an evolving Herstory archive of Chinese female body, liberating from the dominant narratives of History.
