Last of the Cyan Lotus Villagers

最后的青莲村村民

This series captures the people in the visage of a Southern-China old village – the Cyan Lotus Village in Zhaoqing. Amid the sweeping tide of urban redevelopment, Etonmars’ lens turns to the old village neighborhoods and residential buildings on the verge of demolition, capturing the final moments of daily life and human presence in these spaces.

Among faded walls and weathered window frames, one can still see signs of generational continuity and the quiet persistence of life. These photographs not only bear witness to the transformation of place, but also embody her deep reflection on land, memory, and identity.

Revisiting the site 4 years after the first visit, documentation of the visage of the village had been constantly evolving. This will evolve into Volume 2 of the artbook series.
