Created by Self Gaze Collective, as part of Sci-Fi Summer (Love) Museum Summer Night of Art, Exchange & Future Fantasies. Rockbund Art Museum. 2024.
The body holds the past, upholds the present, and points to the future.
It is a living archive — history, now, and what is yet to come, all layered within a single self.
If all human knowledge were entrusted solely to the body,
how would we see ourselves,
how would we connect with others, and shape the world?

Future Body Lab Participating Subjects DWKXW 00904-00971
Through audio guidance and imaginary body exchange system, this project invites participants to trace the minute stories inscribed on the skin, rediscovering the body we inhabit yet often overlook. In the museum space, it opens a shared ground for diverse visitors to approach, and perhaps touch, the self.

Which part of your body would you like to discard in future evolution?
Which part of your body would you like to take with you through future evolution?
Which part of your body would you offer to the exchange market?
Which body part would you like to get from the exchange market?

What would your future body be like?

About Sci-Fi Summer (Love):
“Desire and labor entwined
two sides of the same coin
I am intoxicated by both.”
— Tang Fei, The Bee or Heidegger, 2024
In science fiction, emotion — or qing — is a timeless thread that runs through stories, ancient yet universal, existing across many spaces, dreamlike yet catastrophic.
It is an internal support, carried within its vessel, sometimes as heavy as information overload, requiring exchange to keep it circulating and abundant.

At the heart of the party is the token economy — most tokens must be earned through interaction with artists’ future-imagined exchange formats. Visitors then spend them on performances, activities, drinks, and museum keepsakes, immersing themselves in a collective emotional experience.
Art Exchange Market
Eight groups of artists who invite visitors to imagine new modes of exchange for the future, is curated by Bad Doggy.

Embarkation
Four-chapter electronic music and dance performance, is presented by artist Zhizhao.
